Water temp: 82
Water level: 3.6 ft.
Clarity: Stained
Fishing Buchanan to Alpine. 10.5 miles.
My buddy Townsend and I met up in Buchanan, VA at the public boat launch located next to Twin Rivers Livery at 9am. Twin Rivers was already
getting busy for their day and the public launch was crowded as well. We were on the water by 10:15 after running the shuttle.
A bunch of people floating and partying between Buchanan and Arcadia and this is the section we caught all of the fish. 21 Smallmouth, 3 Redeyes.
Most of the Smallmouth were 10 to 12 inches with 2 just shy of 16'' and one 18''. The three larger fish were all caught on a black Whopper Plopper 110 cast to the bank. The rest were hooked on a 4'' floating Rapala in Brown Trout pattern (at least that's what I call it). Lost several bass fishing a wacky rigged Carolina Pumkin/Chartreuse YUM Dinger. Nothing even sniffed at a spinner bait or jig n craw.
Sorry no pics. Phone was in the dry bag and Townsend kept forgetting to start recording on the GoPro. No, wait, that's not totally true. He did manage
to remember to start recording when the 3 bikini clad ladies in rental yaks paddled up to him asking questions about his kayak. Wow! Gotta love
Summer.
