I've got a good buddy coming into town who's a vastly superior angler to me, and I'd like to put him on some decent fish. I'm usually content to launch at Lynnhaven, fish for flounder for a while, get frustrated, and then catch croaker on fake bloodworms until it's time to go home. Fun for me, but it's a little trifling for a guy with vastly more fishing experience.
So I'm trying to figure out where to take him and what to fish for. I'm in Norfolk and toying with the idea of making a run up to Oyster or Wise. The current plan is to do some basic flounder fishing, then hit deeper water with cut bait on bottom rigs to see what bites. Not very sophisticated, I realize, but we'll have fun with any larger fish, even sharks, rays, and other stuff that people rarely target deliberately. (My buddy doesn't get to hit salt very often, so this will be a change of pace.)
Any advice is more than welcome.
