  • Anne Arundel County Budget Hearings Thurs 5/9/19 and Monday 5/13/19

    Hello all,

Please come testify at a county budget hearing in support of Beverly Triton Beach Park funding and design and Solley Cove boat ramp funding. There is one meeting tomorrow Thursday 5/9/19 from 7 to 11 pm in the county council chambers in Annapolis https://www.aacounty.org/departments...udget-hearings and another meeting Monday 5/13/19 from 7 to 11 pm at North County High School in Glen Burnie https://www.aacounty.org/departments...get-hearings-1 Mike Lofton msl49@aol.com is coordinating the Annapolis meeting, I am coordinating the Glen Burnie meeting.

For BTBP, the basic points: Support the $4.9 million in funding, oppose the design changes and delay
    1) why getting to the water, enjoying the water, means to you and your family and friends, tell your experience in your own words
    2) keep the unloading zone at the current 75 feet instead of moving it back 200 to 250 feet.
    3) keep the bathroom on the waterfront as originally planned
    4) do not reduce parking lot from 96 spots
    5) put the outdoor rinse off shower back in the plan.
    6) the February 2019 "final plan" was at 60% design and construction would be completed in calendar year 2020. After 30+ years another indefinite design delay is indefensible

If the Beverly Beach Community can rent 1/3 of the beach in Beverly Triton Beach Park for $1 a year, the county should stop stalling and create the basic improvements necessary for families to enjoy the rest of the beach and the park in this public park ASAP..

Solley Cove Park: support Solley Cove funding, ask for more boat ramp funding

The gist of the budget introduction and Rec & Parks capital budget presentation is that there are not going to be any more new boat ramps under this administration after Solley Cove. We need to get Solley Cove built before the fancy subdivision that got built next door gets a community association. And the old dirt Solley Cove ramp is getting rough.

You can sign up when you arrive to speak, usually for 2 or 3 minutes.

Hope to see you there. Sorry for the short notice, everything is moving fast this year.
