I am thinking of going crappie fishing for 3 hours in the morning on Saturday at the Occoquan, since it will be my last available time to get out on the kayak for 2012. Unfortunately I hear that the winds may be high tomorrow. My question is that since the Occoquan park area between the two bridges is small, is the Occoquan area semi protected from the winds. Can you fish comfortably for crappie in 15 mph or 20 mph predicted winds? I know on Weems creek the winds can be 25 mph, but it only feels like 8 to 10 on the water. The Occoquan reminds me alittle of weems. I need this information from you anglers that have fished the Occoquan before. Your answer will determine as to whether I go or not. I think Echo5Oscar was thinking of going too. We were going to meet at 9 or 9:30am.
