  • Planning to fish at Mallows Bay Wed am

Last year someone posted about the interesting things at Mallows Bay off the Potomac in Charles County. There is a whole fleet of old wooden ships scuttled in shallow water that should provide some interesting scenery and good fishing. http://www.dnr.state.md.us/naturalre...ghostship.html

I plan to head there tomorrow morning (estimated arrival 8:30 -9:00) to check things out. Anyone else is welcome to join me.

Oh Man...wish I could join you. Thats my favorite spot!- The tides are the key. My best advice would be to show up just as the high tide starts to move out. It comes alive. Low tide makes even kayaking a bit difficult in around the old re-bar/ steel huled ships just 6 inches under the water. Should be plenty of catfish/ snakehead/ and of course largemouth bass. Don't be afraid to move out to the north point (some steep orange cliffs with some gravely bars coming out)... and the southern point of the bay as well. These are the points to the north and south of the big steal ship right in the middle. The small feeder creeks and smaller bays around don't produce too much...but hit them if there is too much wind etc. The rest you will figure out. Post your pics/ report. I will be hitting it 5/2/2013.... should be hot! All the best. John B.
