  • April Anne Arundel County Water Access Committee Meeting & "Streets" Water Trail Map

    Hello all,

The next Anne Arundel County Water Access Committee meeting is on Wednesday, April 9th, 2014 at 6 pm at the Public Works Building at 445 Maxwell Frye Road in Millersville.

I'll have and will post an agenda later in the month. I hope to see you there.

Also, Ralph Heimlich did a "Streets" background version of the draft Anne Arundel County Water Trail map. It's easier to use for trip planning than the land use background model.

Note that the only amenities at the new Franklin Point State Park are two inconveniently placed locked park gates. Parking may be iffy at the Columbia Beach "entrance" and you'll have to bushwhack to the water at the Dent Road/Deep Creek "entrance".

Shadyside Park, OTOH, is a great place for a paddle. Lots of parking, a seasonal portapotty and about a ~100 yard flat carry to the water. The narrow pedestrian gap in the ballfield fence will be widened this spring. You launch onto Parish Creek and can land on the beaches at Shady Cove Natural Area in Hopkins Cove.

    See you on the water.

    Lisa
