11-hr Tog Trip O.C. 1-20-14, Mon
The Morning Star with a dozen anglers left dock 0720 hrs. We rode 3 1/2 hours to the first fishing spot, and that included about a 5 minute stop to drop 20-25 square bricks for the Captain's artificial reef building efforts.
At the first spot, we dropped green crab and white leggers with 12-ounce sinkers in about 100' of water and caught togs immediately. We moved to other spots and continued to catch fish. There were many shorts pulled up, but everybody caught keeper togs. The biggest tog came in at 24 1/2". A few guys limited out at four keepers. I took home three keepers (17, 18, 19").
The forecast was a little windy, but the day turned out pretty good even though the ride out was a bit bumpy. The day was mostly sunny with about 10+ mph wind. All in all, a good trip. Looking to do another trip soon.
