Hello all,
I wanted to share my puny Bass that put me on the boards for 2016! I don’t get much time to fish but I finally managed to bring in a LMB for the year. He's every bit of 8-9 inches but this guy means alot to me LOL.

I pitched a natural colored Jig into this brush pile from a downed tree.

I launched from Scotts Cove around 10:45ish and was on the water till about 2:30. Most of this time I was just getting used to paddling, constantly in awe with the accessibility kayaks provide, and doing a video review on the Perception Striker 11.5 Kayak. Temperatures were about mid 80s-90s and the water was pretty darn clear. As shown below, I kayaked over to a small cove right off the main lake.

Initially I was headed from Scotts Cove to Browns Bridge area to explore the upper Patuxent River; I have an infatuation with shallow water. I kept getting sidetracked, mainly from the area pointed out by the arrow in the picture. It’s a long super shallow flat here with tons of stumps and plenty of bluegill beds. I had a blast simply sneaking up on huge fish that were chasing the gills around.
I am also joining the many few stating “I need to get a Hawg Trough”. In fact, I'm purchasing it right this second… pre-lined and float capable.
Peace.
