This is going to be a quick report, just got off the water and home a little over an hour ago. Started the day at St. George with a buddy, ran into Yak67 and Big Mike, also Daniel-who decided to try his luck in the lower slower. Not much for me to report. Lots of SAV and some dinks with the incoming tide. I'll let the others chime in if they would like. My buddy had been out this weekend and ran into some of our spotted friends....not specs, but a Spanish mackerel image000000(6).jpgWe were trying to see if that guy was a fluke. No joy. High tide and the sun rolled in. We got off the water and waited for the next cycle and and sun to get lower. Met another kayaker at the launch who hadn't heard of SN. Hello Marlon, if you're reading this. Got out an hour or so after low tide started changing with my buddy from the morning and another friend. Wind had picked up at some point and it was a slog. Found the lee and it looked to be a sunset perch cruise. We had all picked up very small rockfish during this time, mostly trolling red jig heads or bucktails with paddle tails. (I was using glow pearl and chartreuse) As in about the same size as the perch we were landing. Hey, it's still fishing. I was running a 1/4 oz. Capt. Bert's Perch Hounder in chartreuse and came up with a bluefish!20200601_195347.jpg Guess Big Mike's blue really wasn't a fluke. Was texting some folks about this occurrence, when I had another take down on my jighead. A nice rockfish. 20200601_200306.jpg It's now time for me to get some shuteye. What a crazy spring of fishing. Tight lines and stay safe out there.

Spanish in the house! Great report, you and many others have put serious time on the water to produce these catches. You just don’t drop a yak in the water and get catches like these without innumerable failed trips teaching you how and where to be. Going to be a wild year down here.Mike

Gotta say a kayak catch of redfish, speckled trout and Spanish mackerel...are an outstanding achievement...love these three on light spinning gear...a 26 inch redfish in shallow flats can make a 2500 Stradic CI-4(+) drag scream...same with a big gator trout...and then you hook into a big Spanish Mackerel and it goes up to the max...this trifecta of great sport fish in Southern Maryland is what keeps this old heart thumping and these old eyes twinkling at the anticipation...And only time on the water, preparation, knowing what lures to throw and how to work them for each species is the ticket to success..congratulations to all who have achieved the Southern Slam..."Lady Luck" 2016 Red Hibiscus Hobie Outback, Lowrance Hook2-7TS
