Rhodes River and to the Channel Marker (in the Bay) Report... nothing exciting...
The goal was to go out to the channel marker about half mile off the front of the large camp.. and try the shelf near the channel... (according to the chart) just south and west of the marker... and then make my way back in with the southeast wind at my back.
Out by the marker.. caught about a dozen croakers.. one keeper at 10" let him go..
Lot's of traffic in that area... but I guess a lot of you are accustom to that. Working 4 rods.. fishbites bloodworm and trying also the clam strip product. Also had some shrimp... nothing on the shrimp.. just the bloodworm artificial. Caught one really small spot... tossed him back still hooked as I was getting a hit on another rod.. and thought maybe something would have a go at him. Later I pulled it in and something had some weight and I could see it... but it got away. About a dozen there. Made my way back in... had lunch and went for a swim at a beach area... made my way back in to a place I had a lot of fish last week... no real size though.
Fished there the rest of the afternoon... probably two dozen croakers... started showing more size so I started keeping them.. happy to see them "plumped" up this week. Nothing very big that I kept. Had a keeper and some hits on the artificial clam strips...
Another fellow had fished the Shadyside area last week and some decent keepers.. but from his report he was around a lot of structure. The depths look even shallower over there.
Beautiful day... really beautiful exploring the southwest side of the outer Rhodes. No bad traffic on the 495 coming back in rush hour. A good day.. at least to be on the water. Appetizers and treats for the cat again.
Cheers.

oh.. on a side note... I found a Hummingbird Smart Cast a few months ago at a thrift shop $6.50... in an unopened package. Works at least as getting depths are concerned. Reports fish.. not to sure about that. I doubt it has much of a spread for the sonar beem. Hey... for $6.50 at least I got my depths working for me ! ( I checked it with some other boaters when I first got it).
