  • Point Lookout charter trip

Went with Captain Scott Russell out of Scheibles Fishing Center with six other guys. We bottom fished both sides of the Potomac w/ squid, bloodworms and small cuts of Fish Bites. Weather was great, but we only boated and 6 - 8 keeper croaker and same amount of white perch the whole day. I was hoping for limits of keeper rock per man, but not in the cards. Capt Scott says most of the rock have moved up to bay Bridge area and rivers to get in more brackish water. He also was concerned about growing "dead zones" in lower Bay? Any comments on dead zones that far down?

We were on a larger boat (@28' )and couldn't get too close to shore. It seems there's more action out of a kayak down there, at least w/ reds.

BTW, for those who need their hot showers in the am, Scheible's has clean cheap rooms ( @30 per) less than 10 min from PLO. It's very pretty at Scheible's, and they let you launch, fish and crab off their long pier for free. Debbie at Scheible's couldn't be nicer. Also, it's a short walk to Courtney's, a local seafood restaurant to absolutely die for. Tommy Courtney will wait on you himself. He's a waterman and serves what he catches THAT day.
Go to Courtney's, you'll love it!
