I found a four hour window for tautog fishing at CBBT.
I knew the current would be very strong. But, after 2 weeks of the freshwater fishing, I needed some saltwater splashes on my face.
Until 11:00 AM, the current was too strong to drop the bait into the cracks/holes right at the bottoms of the pylons.
The wind calmed down and the current was mild for 1.5 hours before the wind picked up. During the 1.5 hours, I managed to catch 4 tautog at 15-17".
Two were keepers at 16" and 17".
I fished 5.5 hours because the wind didn't start blowing as forecasted. It was a disappointing day. I expected big tautogs and many hook-ups in the mid-February.
I think it will be better in the end of February.
Fishing Log:
Thanks
Joe
