Early in the morning, the long period waves at the beach, not the wind, was too strong and high for the kayak launch for tautog fishing at CBBT (Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel).
I decided to fish Rudee instead.
I learned immediately that the fishing in March and April in Rudee this year hasn't been as good as usual. The slot size puppies haven't been abundant, and specks never been there in full force.
We didn't have a good day in catching. Few puppies caught were over 26" and a few specks over 18" were caught.
I saw 2 flounders caught, one at 22" the other at 18".
I caught 3 puppies over 29", and 5 specks over 17" out of 18. My bigest one was 23".
I caught my 1st bluefish of the year, and caught a shad. The shad was a new species for me.
