  • Delaware Snakehead Fishing

Has anyone managed to catch a snakehead in any Delaware waters?

I've made two trips to Beck's Pond in the hopes of catching my first snakehead but haven't caught nor seen one. In my two trips I concentrated on fishing the lillys and sea weed towards the back. I've pulled out bass and a couple good sized pickerel but the snakehead eludes me.

Has anyone had any luck in Delaware?

Any tips on spots to try?
I know they are supposed to be in Beck's pond and the Nanticoke and possibly other locations as well. I've never been to the Nanticoke so a specific area would be helpful if you know an area you are catching them consistently in that river.

Tonytank creek or Tonytank Pond in Salisbury.

Ignore my idiotic suggestion. I misread "Delaware" for "Delmarva".

Never tried Delaware but if you ever find yourself up in South Jersey/Philly I can give you a snakehead tour. The season is winding down now, though, as the temps start to drop the vegetation will start to die and the snakeheads bury themselves in the mud.

Yea. I think its the last month for SH hunting, but they are aggressive before they hibernate. They have to fatten up

I may take you up on that some time in the future.

I had no idea that snakeheads actually hibernate. I assumed they were like other fish were the fishing slows when it gets cold but they are still active.

I'm sure they still bite in the cold weather but its hard enough to find them when they are active. So, I wouldn't even bother target them once they start hiding in the mud.
