    Thanks for the replies Howard.
    I've heard others mention the same reasons as you do for the Susqy smallies being beasts. I've heard that there is a huge abundance of crayfish in that river. The Susqy smallies are not the norm.
    From fishing the Potomac River above Great Falls, I often see lots of minnows in the weeds, around rock islands, and along the shore and downed trees.
    I think anyone here that fishes the Potomac for smallmouth bass with say that the Potomac smallies seem healthy. All the fish I catch seem active and hungry and in fine shape. But they are not football shaped. They are regular smallmouth bass shaped. I've caught smallies in Canada, Indiana, and Ohio and they were all shaped like the Potomac smallies. Nothing like the Susqy smallies I see in your reports or on other websites.
    So in the end I don't think the issue is the Potomac, I think the question is what's different about the Susqy?
