  • New to the area, lost as can be

Hey there! Im new to the forum, new to the area, and new to fishing, I do have loads of kayak and canoe experience. I live in Mt Washington, and have been fishing at Robert E Lee Park for the past couple of weeks. I'm looking for some new spots, and maybe, if I'm lucky, someone to show me the ropes of bass fishing. I have had decent luck, but I could use some pointers, mainly places to go. Thanks all for the advise! Happy fishing!

Welcome to the site. I have never had much luck at REL although it is close to me (Towson). I normally fish a limited number of places, but that is because I am usually targeting a certain species - snakehead. When I am after snakeheads, I typically launch at Slavins - which is a bit of a haul. Conowingo Dam or along the Susquehana is good for SMB and stripers, but I catch mostly SMB when fishing there. Been to Tridelphia once and had some luck there. Dundee Creek is hit or miss for me. Fishing gets better the further out you go, so if you are willing to expend a lot of energy paddling, then it could prove fruitful. Fished Bush River and Mariner Point several times, and while I am always hopeful, I have not had much luck at either place.
Haven't been out much lately as home projects keep me busy on the weekends, but hoping to get out again in the next couple of weeks.

Welcome aboard! I'm still catching on myself and try to hook up with as many people as I can. Our Snaggedline members have always been gracious with fishing advice.

Second that! I asked a simple, what do I need to fish with for the meet and greet and got a well sorted answer!

I'm new here myself, new to kayak fishing. Been hitting reservoirs and streams. List thus far= mattawoman, tuckahoe, rocky gorge, tridelphia, piney run reservoir, watts creek.

I too want to start landing some snakeheads! Want that to be my target fish for now.

NukeMD mentioned Bush River and Mariner Point... I've had decent luck at Mariner Point with only a small handful of skunked trips but the weeds along the shoreline get pretty dense and dirty this time of year.

As for Bush river, the only fish I have ever caught there was a foul hooked shad. Every other trip has been a skunk. From time to time I try again for a change but never find any fish.

Welcome aboard, sorry on late response.. one place I did catch both large mouth and snakeheads is this location. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ma...b83833989b6f25 keep an eye on the tides when there high and low.. if high is a good time to go up the river.. when low tide perfect time to go back to the park...
