  • Weekend Plans? 10/4, 10/5? Eastern shore? Mattawoman?

    Hey everyone,

Been two whole weeks since I hooked something and really need to get out there! I'm thinking Tuckahoe lake or creek on Saturday 10/4 @ 10am or later (closing a loan at 9). And somewhere for some snakehead like mattawoman or (insert suggestion here), with an early start time after I drop the wife off @ 5am .

The more the meririer! Will post final plans Friday.

Had a pretty good haul today. Dang wind! So hard to stay on target. But between me and my buddy we had four crappie, five bass, some perch and two pickerel.

Still not sure where to go tomorrow?

Caught 3 bass and one crappie. Today. Used a minnow with spinner, and a crappie max bass pro shop 3-5ft crankbait. Was a nice day on the water at tuckahoe. First time wind didn't blow me all over the place.

Think I'll branch out from here, seems to always be packed with rental yaks sloshing by while fishing.

Never been to Tuckahoe, do you like it? I've been hitting Rocky Gorge lately, but Tuckahoe seens more my style with Pads and downed trees. I'm off this Friday, maybe i'll head out there, where do you launch from?

they have a ramp there....def a weekday spot (esp in Summer) it gets decent boat traffic on the weekends for such a small spot.

Some decent sized bass and some really nice Pickerel in there.

Yep that pretty much sums it up! The pickerel are quite fun. After my first time fishing there, I put braid on everything, although I caught all the above fish on a micro rod with 10lb mono. That yellow black crankbait has always faired well there.

I haven't been in the area next to the rentals yaks, but for the most part the lake is about 3-4ft deep from the launch to the mouth of the creek. Once in the creek you can't hit depths ranging from 9ft and down. Water was really clear this past weekend.

If you go hit the Chanel behind the bridge....bass, pickerel, and perch like to go up in there, and the bridge has always produced for me.

And I'd have to agree about a weekday trip....weekends are to packed with recreational kayakers.

Think y'all have convinced me, it was either Tuckahoe of Piney Run, think i'll lead towards Tuckahoe. I've been having great luck with Zoom Super Flukes and BooYah Pad Crasher Jr lately, how y'all think i'd do with those?

Only caught one perch off the booyah there despite throwing it every time. That shallow crank bait has pulled the majority of my fish there. Caught other bass on spinners of sorts. Broke two lines on black zoom blue tail worms...when I say broke I mean cut by the pickerel.....even had what would have been best pickerel yet take that yellow n black crankbait but I quickly replaced it

Creek is bordered by thick grass, I think the pickerel hold up in there and ambush.

                      Live minnows work great too
