I decided to take a stroll around the community lake to try for some bass. Throwing a broken back stick bait and had caught a few smaller fish when I hooked what I thought was a decent bass. Was I surprised when this 16" crappie came into view. This lake is maybe 5 acres and I've caught crappie up to 12" in it in the past, but nothing approaching this monster. I'm attributing it to my lucky Natty Boh shirt. Fish was released so she can spawn and hopefully be caught again.

Thanks for the kind words - I am still in a semi-state of amazement that this fish was living in the body of water I caught it from - there is zero structure and it might get to 12 feet deep. Sometimes fish are highly adaptable.Mike
