  • so here is how my bass fishing is going

Saturday on a crankbait (lake up in PA):

Sunday on a plastic worm (tidal potomac):

I did manage to catch 20 largemouth over the course of the weekend but just not finding the size right now, this was the biggest from the weekend:

ah well, beats the repeat skunkings and frost bite from February

Thanks for the post Dave! You love those catfish! You'll be finding the big bass eventually with your jigs.
I still haven't gotten my kayak out on the water yet.

I think you are beating me. I was out for my first Yak trip Saturday. Caught a nice 17' Smallie and a smallish 12". I've had a couple flyfishing trout outings and avoided the skunk both times. Last night I took the big boat to the Tidal P and although I received a personal skunk, My fishing partner nabbed a big olé' snakehead. Must have been a good 10lbs or so.

Once I got past the initial disappointment that they were not big largemouth they were kind of fun. The blue cat towed me around for a couple of minutes.

I'm not sure I love those blue catfish. I wonder if they are doing harm to the tidal largemouth population. Hope you can get out on the water soon. I hear the Northern Pike at Rocky Gorge miss you!

A 17" smallie from the Upper Potomac? That is getting to be a really good fish on that stretch of water. Lots of sub 12" but not too many nice ones like that.

            Nice report Dave!

At least there was no skunk! Hopefully you can find some better fish in the weekends to come.

Smallmouth fishing has been horrible up here around harpers ferry and on the doah. I've managed one dink on three outings.
