Yes that is the stumps field she is talking about. RG has better habitat conducive to pike spawning apparently.

I'm no expert in pike or the WSSC reservoirs. Last year was my first time catching northern pike and I caught one in each reservoir. The Triadelphia pike hit my pointer 78 near a main lake point that had a fallen tree nearby. The Rocky Gorge pike hit a fire tiger shad rap near a large rock formation/cliff like area. I enjoy catching pike. They get large and pull hard. I have not targeted pike there and I have been fishing for bass when I caught them.
Perchy that's great information from the DNR. I am confused about the vegetation the DNR is talking about. I can think of one area at Triadelphia that develops lots of weed growth. I don't notice much vegetation at Rocky Gorge.

St Mary's lake is full of nice pickerel but alas no pike. I've been catching them on plastics, mostly 4" and 5" Yamamoto grubs. I'm not targeting them, but they are hanging out in areas that should hold bass and are a nice surprise, especially since they out size the bass.Mike

Nice fish!
I see you have the reservoir map on your FF. Is that standard on the Lowrance or did you have to buy a special card?

I've caught my largest pike in Triadelphia but I fish Triadelphia more than RG. Largest was 32" and hit a square bill crankbait in 2ft of water.

Was reading on the larger pike (30+ inches) are different from the 20-30 inches in that they like colder water. Did you catch that one close to a feeder creek with a cold water spring? Dunno about triadelphia but Rocky gorge is full of feeder streams. They look like fault cracks in the soil during drawdowns.Olive Trophy 126 - Moored at Rocky Gorge Scott's Cove

Triadelphia has some feeder streams into it. Rocky Gorge seemed to have several. I'll have to give more attention to vegetation at both reservoirs.
I am going to concentrate on fishing near sunrise and sundown as well as looking for vegetation near downed trees.
I'm also interested in doing some drop shotting with small plastics in deeper water to see how that goes.

I believe almost every cove/cut in Rocky Gorge is created by a feeder stream. It's one big ditch basically. A lot of these online articles say pike go deep in the summer, but I'm seeing reports of them caught out of RG in August and July on spinnerbaits. Either the pike hang out near these underground feeder streams or the lake doesn't thermocline very deep.Last edited by perchy; 05-12-2015, 08:18 PM.Olive Trophy 126 - Moored at Rocky Gorge Scott's Cove
