  • Rocky Gorge first timer...

I'm planning on hitting Rocky Gorge tomorrow afternoon-ish. From what I've been reading the Brown's Bridge area has been hot so I was planning on putting in there. Can anyone give me some intel on that ramp/area for putting in? Unless it's a dirt road, Google Maps doesn't even show a ramp from what I can see. What's parking like near that "ramp" ?

Any idea what the water conditions are going to be like after all this rain?

There are two launches at Brown's Bridge. Here is the ramp on the Montgomery County side.

Here is the launch on the Howard County side just across the bridge.

I don't know for sure but I suspect that area is going to be rolling muddy trashed. Have you considering using one of the down lake launches to get away from the muddy head waters?

Dave - I was just told that area would be a dump after all this rain and we're putting in at Supplee instead. We'll see how things go!

There will be a S***load of muddy water coming down the Patuxent for the next 4-5 days. The area around Browns Bridge will be a turbulent mess, the river can really rip thru there.
Just checked the USGS RealTime data. The river is up like 6+ feet!. Stay away!
No matter where you put in tomorrow it is going to be chocolate soup!
Remember to get your use permit.

The water level needs to be just right for the launch at Browns to be good. Last time I launched there in the fall it was mud pie. I've just decided to do the paddle over to that area from Scotts

                  Nice looking lure!
Where did you end up fishing today?

I just poured 50 more during the rain, yesterday.

That's from Rocky Gorge... Water isn't poo soup down by Supplee. It's super high though. 3 perch is all I got... The last 2 were on a crank bait I was trolling... I have no idea why they hit that crank bait....

Alot of diff fish will hit a crank bait in there.

Perch will actually swallow 4 inch swim baits and any lure that size around this area.

Youll catch higher #s with soft plastics on the woods and jigs on deeper structure

Limited parking on the ramp side. Obey the signs but who cares after that.

yup...parked on ramp side of BB, was gonna be in water 2 hours tops. Someone called in said I was in a handicapp spot...both park police and DNR met me as I was coming in. Major pain in the ass...just walk the extra 50 yards. They wanted my license, permit, checked my lifejacket, etc. Got off with a warning but not worth the hassle.
