Upper Potomac north of Hancock esp Paw Paw WV

Anyone have any experience? I goggled some stuff but found mixed results

Have some friends parents who have a cabin between Great Cacaphon and Paw Paw. The Cacaphon has yeilded really small smallmouth, so looking to maybe float the part of the Potomac south of Paw Paw. What is the water like there? Any super fast moving water or rapids that take experience?

What type of fishing can you expect there? Whats a good ending place for the Float? Thnx

Way back in the late 1960s, myself and a couple other college roommates did a 2-day float trip from Paw Paw to Hancock. The river was pretty tame. There wasn't a single piece of water to worry about. We were not fishing during this trip. Years later I shore-fished several access points along this same stretch. Fishing was fairly good but the bass were smallish. Also, there is just not enough of the kind of rocky rapids that I like to fish.
