  • Last Bass of the year

They weren't big but anytime you can finish the year with some fish, well that's a good year. I was drop shoting a Gulp sinking minnow hoping the added flavor would entice some bites. Ended up with 2, but that's 2 more than I as expecting. I was very surprised to see small bait fish up against the bank even with the warm weather we've had. Both of these fish came from maybe 5' off the bank. Now if I can just catch some tomorrow to get the year started right.

Six members of the OGWLF (Old Guys Who Like to Fish) group visited several Eastern Shore freshwater sites today. The bite was slow, but we all caught something. My most memorable catch was a super-fat 18.5" LMB. I have caught them slightly longer before, but never this fat. The fish hit a 1.5" chartreuse twister tail on a 1/8-oz jighead.

Wow! That's a BBF for sure. I think a faster bait would have worked better today and you proved it.

Nice fishing Big Mike! Hopefully the New year bite will still be on. John V. that's one Fat Bass-What a Porker

Great to see everyone getting out right up to the end of the year. Thank you El Nino

Last bass for 2015 (suspending jerkbait from shore) and the first for 2016 (1/4 ounce football jig with a tiny paca craw)

Best so far for 2016 (power team lures tube on a 1/4 ounce draggin head)

With the weather this week I think my "easy bass" will be a little more difficult to coax a bite out of, but I do love some of the aspects of winter bass fishing. Nobody on the water, the thrill of catching any bass and the beloved truck heater blasting goodness on the drive home!

Yes the color was June Bug. I was more interested in the Gulp scent than the color on that day. Those are good looking grubs, I'm guessing you make them.
