After cutting my father's grass on Friday, I hit a water drainage pond at a nearby shopping center. I fished for about 35 minutes and caught about a dozen of these guys.
The green sunfish were crushing the foam spider. Continuous action. Lots of tiny fish pecking at it. After it got dark, one beast of a sunfish as big as the palm of my hand hit the spider hard and gave up a nice fight.
A lot of fun for such a short time fishing. I was hoping the pond would have some bass in it. I'll keep checking back there as the summer progresses since it is convenient for quick trips after visiting with my dad. Plus, nobody else fishes the place, so zero pressure.
