Night catfishing the Ohio River

So I had never even caught a flathead catfish until yesterday, and I ended up with a personal best for my kayak and freshwater. 31 1/4" flatty caught on cut skipjack. I have pretty much set out to catch a WV citation size fish for all available. This catfish is my 3rd species citation for the year the first two being a channel catfish 26 3/4" and a white bass 17 3/4". They have no real value but for me its just a goal I have set. I was hoping to get a blue cat also but they were not in this particular section of the river. So for now its time to plan my next trip.cat2.jpgcat3.jpgcat1.jpg

Did you keep the flathead? I am not a fan of whiskered table fare, but a flathead is delicious.

No i released it. Rarely keep any catches. Unless im eating it when i get home.
