  • Rocky Gorge 3/25

Well I finally made it out to the gorge for the first time this year! It was a cold morning but I stuck a healthy 2-3 pounder on my 5 cast. Did not weigh it and my picture somehow disappeared. Fished hard and didnt get another bite until late morning, however, it was this super healthy 5.0. Shortly after I managed another 3.7. The bite was slow, but the bigguns are eating. Water temperature was 43-46 on the surface so the bite will really pick up when we hit that 50* mark. Tight lines! First pic is the 5, second is the 3.7, third is what I came across floating around a few times. Take that 3rd pic and use it to your advantage when choosing your baits

Very nice. Time of year where it’s many casts between fish but the rewards can be great.

Great fish! I love the recon about bait color. Smart move.

Outstanding AC. I hit the Gorge once so far and got skunked.

What length do you estimate that dead shad to be? 4 inches?

Thank you all! I’m going to register for that webinar mchottie, I’m sure it’ll be very informative. As far as the shad goes, that one was about 4”. However, I also came across a few smaller ones about 3” and a large one that was 6-8”. One thing I am trying to learn this year is the different species of bait fish in each water I fish to better match the hatch.
