It’s crappie time in N. Alabama. I caught a few today on a glacier colored Bobby Garland jig under a cork. What’s your preferred method of catching crappie?
Nice fish! Crappie are such a blast. My go to rig is an ultralight rod with 6lb low vis mono. I could use lighter line but I use this same pole for white perch in the bay, which sometimes produces striper bites, and the extra line weight counts for something there. I actually landed a 22' striper on it a few weeks ago and that fight was glorious. I usually use a split tail grub on a super light jighead about 1-2' under a bobber. Casting to downed trees is always the target. Sometimes I let it sit, sometimes I'll slowly drag or try to bounce the bobber to entice a strike. Once the school gets fired up I throw my feet up and have some fun!
