  • Non-Kayak Revisited Small Flow Smallies

Revisited the small flow not far from home.
Took the spinning rod. No takers on a curly tail grub or a beetle spin.
A 3 inch stick-o worm with a tiny ball head jig did the ticket. Water was clear and cool.
The 4 smallies I caught were not large, but had some nice jumps.
This pool consistently has fish in it.
I will keep coming back throughout this summer for quick trips.

Odd, the 2-3" curly tail grub on a 1/16-1/8oz roadrunner jig head would have been my goto on a small flow like this.
Was a the 3" stick worm a floating worm (AKA "Ned Rig")??
Did you let the worm lay, as opposed to a constant retrieve on the grub?

      Hi Slackdaddy,

Yes, I was struggling there for a bit. I knew there were smallies and sunfish in this location. I have no idea why they curly tail grubs didn't work. I was fishing the stick-o worm with a similar retrieve to the curly tail grub and jig. Not really sure why the fish were not cooperating until the 3 inch worm came their way.
