I tried something different tonight at Cash Lake. Instead of fishing a small jig with a sexy tail shad I put on a 3/8 oz jig head covered with a 3" dark olive/brown tube. I was throwing at the edge of the lily pads and after a half a dozen tries I thought I had hooked a pad but then as I tightened up on the line it pulled back and started into the cover. I paddled over and started pulling lilies out of the way and after five minutes I could get to my line and saw a huge tail coming up to the surface. I tried grabbing the tail but he was too slippery. I finally got down to his mouth and got a hold of him. As I lifted him up and out of the water he kept coming and coming. Turned out to be 22"-23" long 14.5" around the belly and just under 6 lbs. largemouth bass. Not having a good camera I looked around and spotted another float on the lake with two guys fishing. I secured the bass with lip grippers and put him back in the water as I paddled over to the other float. As I approached the two guys I asked if either had a smart phone with camera. One guy said, "Yes I do, why?" I pulled my catch up and held my arm as high as I could. Bob and Steve gave out a few expletives and then Bob took a couple of pics for me. Thanks guys.

Nice fish, and good thinking to ask for a guest photographer.
