After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, the new Outback finally arrived. Decided the maiden voyage would be at Tridelphia Reservoir since it's pretty close. The kayak is a dream, so many thanks to the posts from this forum that helped me zero in on the best yak for me. Managed to catch a couple small mouth bass (I think) in the early morning, probably 6 to 7 inch size, using one of my late grandfather's old spinners. Also got a couple bites that I lost before I ever saw them. Could not ask for a more beautiful morning.

Thanks Dave! And thanks for setting me straight on the fish. Somehow I knew I was guessing wrong.

Happy to help. Those White Perch are good eating. They are in the same family of fish as the "True Basses", the Striped Bass, White Bass and Yellow Bass. Unlike the Largemouth, Smallmouth and Spotted Basses which are actually members of the "Sunfish" family.

Congrats on the new Hobie! White perch are good eating, I usually only keep them at 9 inches and bigger.
