I paddled the Monocacy today for a few hours and had a great time. The habitat wasn't the best, but I found some fish. Fish liked 4 types of areas.
1. Shade
2. Shade with fallen trees.
3. Water below riffles/ledges.
4. Areas with cliffs and chunky rock.
Probably caught about a dozen fish and lost a couple as they were getting reeled in. All were pretty small. Lost a decent sized one on the Pop-R. I had the river all to own for about 2 hours. Then some husky Frederick girls floated by in inner-tubes.
Caught the most fish on a 2.5 inch gulp minnow fished on a circle hook weightless.
Had the most fun with a Rebel Pop-R. I put bigger hooks on the Pop-R and it sinks, but does a nice surface and sub-surface walk when popping it. Here's some photos.
