The 1st event of 2017 by the Maryland Chapter of Heroes on the Water was held this past Saturday, April 22 on a private pond. All those who braved the cool temps and rainy weather were rewarded with fish willing to take artificial lures. Crappie were by far the most eager to strike minnow imitating lures and a few keeper large-mouths kept things interesting. The hardy Soldiers, Marines, Airmen and Sailors that persevered the less than ideal weather conditions were also rewarded with a hot BBQ lunch provided by MISSION BBQ’s Columbia Crossing location. Starbucks Coffee and Barristas!!! from the Monocacy and N. Market St in Frederick served coffee to everyone. We built a fire and somehow we got wet wood to burn!!?? The Maryland Chapter wishes to thank the many land and kayak-borne volunteers that helped out. They unloaded & rigged the gear, served lunch, guided the troops on the water and looked after their safety and did their best to locate fish. They then derigged and loaded up the trailers to get set to do it all again for the next event. All things considered it was a very good day.1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg6.jpg7.jpg8.jpg9.jpg10.jpg
