Who's using wall storage the right way for all your yak accessories? I usually throw all my stuff on the yak after a trip but as I've accumulated more stuff, my storage area looks like a bomb went off.

Does anyone here suggestions or could post pictures of their own solutions to this common problem?

Trying to take advantage of this big block wall I've got. Would also consider some sort of storage cabinet for other things like tackle/clothing.

I swear by these for rod storage. The white one is one I built based on the plans of the plain wood one pictured. Basically I did two back to back. It would be easily attached to a wall. Link to plans. http://www.ifish.net/board/showthread.php?t=315088

Up off the floor is the key. You got plenty of space there for hooks and shelves galore. I like things where I can see them and tend to stay away from enclosed cabinets. I find if I don't see I'll forget it. Minimizes them "damn it I forget it" moments at the kayak launch.

I store my rods in regular rod holders screwed to the garage wall. I have room for 12 of them there. Just past that I have some sturdy 16"-deep shelves constructed of 2x4s and plywood. Nearly all the rest of my fishing, boating, and kayaking gear lives there.

In the process of building a kayak storage rack off of my shed. Wish I had a garage. Any issues with exposure to winter temps? Kayaks will be covered.

I leave mine outside, upside down and stack them on top of each other. I also put 2x6 's down on the grass this year, I guess better later than never, lol. Has not hurt them yet, and if the water is not frozen, I can grab them and use them. I did not get them to pet them.

I really like the wall storage units folks have posted photos of here. I wish I could do the same but I do not have a lot of open space in my garage due to windows and built-in shelving units occupying much of my wall space -- and just having too much lawn equipment and other stuff! So, I went overhead to the ceiling store my rods with some screw hooks from the hardware store and bungee cords. See here:

I actually have 9 rods stored on this same setup at the moment. So it can hold more than pictured.

I place my tackle in cabinets rescued from a kitchen remodeling years ago. Here's one:

My kayaks are on carpets on the garage floor. I had hoped to build a rack to store them one on top of the other but I never got to it this year.

For those contemplating outside storage beware of squirrels. I have seen the damage they can cause by chewing. They are especially fond of the black plastic used by Hobie for handles and rudder control knobs.

I don't have any fancy system for my kayaks at the moment as they are just outside turned upside down. I am currently in the process of having a pole barn built and was thinking of hanging my kayaks and canoes from the ceiling. I'm still up in the air on that as I am a little worried about them falling on something parked underneath. I did look at the layout of the posts and I do have one wall in the back with no windows and only a secondary garage door towards the side. It happens to have two posts that are about 6' apart in the center of about 18' of clear wall space. I'm thinking of putting 2x4 arms sticking out of the wall every 2' vertically. This will give me room to stack 6 boats on the wall. I currently have 5 so I should be set.

I do have these rod holders in my garage attached to the house. They are mounted above the garage door so they are out of the way. I highly recommend this setup. I've broken more rods in storage and transport than I ever have using them.

I use these for my rods http://www.amazon.com/Okuma-Expandab.../dp/B000Z9OACA and most everything else for the kayak goes in an outdoor boat storage box that is locked. Tackle I have I have in those clear storage shelves which means I forget what I have bc I can't see it!

Cool. Just don't want anything to happen that could be easily avoided. Thanks, puts my mine at ease.
