I saw some discussions on other forums that some folks have had trouble with lowrance transducers in the spring and the theory was that they don't make it through cold winters well outside or in unheated garages. Some were saying lowrance recommended removing them and bringing them inside during winters. But I think these discussions were among people in very cold states like MN. Anyone experience problems with their transducer after a winter in cold storage? This is my first winter owning a transducer. Thanks for any insights.

Remove transducers during winter?

I've used Lowrance units for years. Haven't had a problem yet. There's nothing in the owners manual about transducers and cold weather. Think about all of the boats that remain in the water year around. On a lot of boats removing the transducers would be time consuming and costly. However I would think that the folks in the northern climates do face some problems that we don't face here.

I think the transducers (with problem) were factory born defective.
