  • Installing Mighty Mount for VisiCarbon Pro with no inside hull access?

I have done a little rigging using rivets on my Malibu Stealth 9 before, but they came as the hardware with the anchor trolley I was installing. So it was easy to know I was using the right hardware for the job. Now I want to mount a VisiCarbon pole light, which came with a Mighty Mount and hardware for inside hull access, which I do not have. Can I use standard rivets in place of the mounting screws that were provided? if so, are there size differences to consider? Or should I just install with rivets as I have before? Thanks for good insights.

You can fish a backing plate using some fishing line. Always better to use a backing plate over rivets anyway.

If you do use rivets you want to use the "tri-grip" poly kind and not standard rivets. See links https://www.austinkayak.com/products...-Anodized.html or http://www.yakattack.us/product_p/hrc-1001-10.htm or http://www.yak-gear.com/shop/Tri-Gri...ter_name=rivet

rivets would probably be fine since its just a light pole and not a high tension item, but as suggested use the right kind

That's the first time I saw the trigrip rivets, those look like they would be perfect for plastic boats.

Nothing is easier than screwing it in with the self taping screws they give you .......... And you can take it back out for any reason

The self tapping screws that come with the mighty mounts are ok for just a light pole. I did opt to use them for the visicarbon mounts on one of kayaks. Backing plates are better, but way more work...especially if you make the plates yourself like I do.

i decided on tri-grip rivets and installed them this afternoon. no problems, looks like a good fit for convenience of install and plenty secure to handle the light pole.
