  • DIY stand assist strap

So having a older Wilderness Systems Ride 135 it didn't come standard with all the cool "fishing" features that today's kayaks now come with. I love sight casting for big largemouth, but getting up and down being 6" 210lbs isn't always the easiest task to do. So I've made a stand assist strap that adds just a little more of a custom look to the kayak. Here is a list of the items I used to make it.

-1x 3/8" black coated spring link (260lb work load)
-1x replacement lawnmower pull start handle
-2x 1/8x50ft paracord (2 different colors for my application)
-1x lighter (to burn ends of the paracord)

The only tricky part came at adding the handle to 2 cord pieces. To accomplish this just cut out the inner rope down around 6" feed threw then tie a overhand knot then burn ends. Simple afternoon project to solve a little problem. Attached is a finished photo and a video (not mine) on how to braid the paracord. Hope this helps inspire someone to get out and make something! Tight lines!
