This is a setup I use in my pro angler when I fly fish to keep the fly line from tangling and to allow it to shoot well. Stripping baskets are normally too large (at least until I get the leaning post from Hobie in the fall).
I bought all the components from Harbor freight in Glen Burnie.
Needed: 1 - 12" x 12" rubber mat approx cost $3.50
However many zip ties you want to put in-approx 10-12
Marine Goop
First cut the mat to the shape you wish, mine was to fit on top the cutting board on the Pro Angler. Decide where you want to place the zip ties and cut 2 small slits net to each other to run the zip tie through and cinch down. I put a drop of marine goop where it attaches to the rubber mat (just because).
Then I trim height and go fishing. The rubber mat is heavy enough to keep in place. When stripping fly line between my legs while seated it stays in place and shoots line well. Not the perfect solution but it works for me.
