I'm working on my Outback too.

      What's that base cleat for?
I see you use launchers. Don't like the stock rod holders?
What FF do you have? Does it have a shoot-thru-hull transducer? Does the transducer specifically have to be made for shoot-thru?
Where did you get the measure stick from? How long?
You may want to cut the bolt so it doesn't stick out.
How did you cap the end of the half-paddle? Is it the Hobie paddle?

Maybe I can answer a few of your questions Tufnik...
I just added a cleat similar in location to Matt. Mine is for tieing-off my anchor line.

When I was putting my FF on my other Yak I was told that any transducer can be used through-hull or in the water (not through-hull).

Ok, now I have a question too...
For the Turbo Fins, is this simply replacing the fins or is there more involved?

Turbo fins - simply swap out the stock fins, a 5 minute switch.

The cleat was on the kayak when I bought it used.

Rod Holders- I don't like the stock built in rod holders. don't have a good angle for trolling and i really only use them for putting rod in while changing tackle. plus they are too short for my rod butts. the hobie extenders a nice for behind the seat because they have the notch to secure a rod in better.

Fish finder - garmin 150 i think and yes it works thru hull

The hawg trough is from Hook1 - www.kayakfishinggear.com
          30inches

Paddle- It is the hobie paddle. I keep one half on each side of the kayak. for balance and when I need to paddle it's only for a short period so I only need one half.

Looks good. I need to do a few things to my Outback before the upcoming tournaments. Mainly a sailing rudder and maybe a high back seat.

              Jim,
Are you using the sail too? If not, isn't the stock rudder adequate?

the bigger rudder is a lot more efficient, but since I have the older model of the outback it doesn't have a sailing rudder option or I would have bought one.

After talking to jffoley about the rudder I am going to get one. He said it made a big difference. It only cost about 20 to25 bucks so what the hell right.

The stock fin seem to work fine. From a stand still, a takes a number of pumps and forward motion before the lateral forces on the fin are large enough to turn the yak. I guess the sail fin, with its larger area, will turn it sooner. The start off is among the biggest change I see.

When already moving, the stock fin turns the yak fine. When at a good pace, I guess the knob sensitivity will be high, almost touchy. Turns will be quicker too. Is that what we can expect?

haven't had mine in waves yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if the sailing rudder results in more fin still in the water as waves move past you. dunno

$20-25 !!! any idea what years models can use it? how much are turbo fins?

Any hobie with the new style rudder can use the sailing rudder I think? Twist and stow systems? The turbo fins + sailing rudder made a big difference for me! I found the stock fins to feel too much like I was pedaling a bike in low gear. I like that I take less strokes now and go faster!
                            Used to fish more.

I just put the new LARGE rudder on my Outback. I think it should make a big difference.

Here is a photo of the old rudder on top of the new one. You can clearly see the size diffrence.

                              Sometimes size does matter.
