  • New Torqeedo Dealer/ Repair Center

I had an issue with my Torqeedo 403 , I called the Torqeedo headquarters to get some answers from their service line, and they were very helpful.

They informed me of a brand new Torqedoo Dealer and Service Center right here in Maryland and really close to me (35 minutes). I dropped off the unit today.

I'll update with the issues and how the repairs went.

    The dealer is :
    Hartge Yacht Harbor Marina
    4883 Church Lane
    Galesville, MD 20765
    (443) 607-6306

    Update:
Got a call my Torqeedo is finally ready. $794.00 dollars in repairs. As you can see from original date it takes a while??
Its was still under warranty, I got the usual self inflicted damage report.
I called Torqeedo Headquarters to plead my case, no sympathy there. Offered to buy a new motor at a discounted price, since I am basically getting a new one. No justice there.
The more horror stories I hear about this product for kayak use leaves me to believe there are issues there. I know for everyone who loves them, there are just as many sad stories. Not Once have I heard them go out of their way to offer some goodwill to their customers. " I would NOT recommend this product for kayak use. For the price you can buy 4-water snakes, and a couple of Bixby jets and throw them away if they break, and still have money left.

They said Water intrusion in the lower Pod, caused by a bent prop shaft. Seals leaked, then electronics fried. New motor basically after being rebuilt.

Deemed self inflicted, so NO warranty coverage.

That sounds like BS on their part. Sucks it’s been a shitty process and cost you money.

That's awful man. For the amount of money people drop on these things, I expect a full replacement should one fail under warranty, no questions asked. What were the circumstances of the failure, if you don't mind me asking?

They said my prop shaft was bent. Caused the seals/ bearings to leak and that led to the electronics getting fried. The #1 scenario with these units is you get a big fish and are moving and your lines get tangled and the braid goes around the prop shaft and that causes the seal / bearing to fail. I know of this happening to a couple of guys. Ching-Ching$$$
I wasn't looking to get over and I explained that, but they would not even want to discuss a discounted motor or discount on repair.... Crickets...…
With all the social media and other ways to get a bad message out about your product you would think they would be more customer friendly in this day and age. They Just Don't Care....

Certainly not a positive view of the product or the company that makes it.

Yeah, some myopic minded companies choose to look at each individual transaction as money makers or money losers and they don’t have the foresight to look at the bigger picture and implications of their decisions. They made money on you, but the dozens of others that read this that may have been interested in buying a torqueedo just might have lost interest and may not become customers at all.

Hey Guys ........... I haven’t advertised it but I am on the Torqeedo Team. I am a firm believer in their engines and their service. Unfortunately, as with any product, some things get messed up. In this case, things were not handled as they should by a new service center.

I have been in contact with Torqeedo and they have agreed to look into this and see what they can do. I can’t guarantee anything but I think they will try to make you happy.

If you guys have problems that you are having a hard time getting resolved. PLEASE contact me before posting. Torqeedo strives to make you guys happy but sometimes things slip.

I only ask that you post the results of their efforts.

I am Happy to report that the Torqeedo Team came thru. Management was not aware of what had taken place at the lower levels and wanted to make things right and they did. I am thankful to Memorymaker (Rick) for hearing me out and making sure my concerns were heard by the right people. Once that took place, they reached out to me for an amicable solution. I believe now they will have things in place to hear their customers out before they vent their frustrations in a public forum, not doing anybody any good with this method. Thanks Torqeedo

I have been out three days this week fishing with my rebuilt motor with NO issues, about 12 hours trolling time this week so far.... and then there is Friday...…...

Glad to hear they are working on it, remember voicing your opinion in a public forum is what led to your solution.

No ........... reaching out to the right people got it done. Stuff happens with every and any company. Torqeedo has gone the extra step to form the team Torqeedo to help make sure things don’t slip thru the cracks and blow up. The team is unpaid and made up of fishermen like you who are you. They really care about their customers. If you have a concern that you feel is not being handled properly then please reach out to me and let me see if I can help. I can’t guarantee that everything can be solved ......... especially if it is an obvious case of abuse ...... but let me try before you voice your opinion on public media. Torqeedo is growing by leaps and bounds because they have a great product and they care. There will be problems but at least they cared enough to let us have their ear to help fix things to make you happy. I am not payed by Torqeedo but I have the ability to get to the right people to help you ............ so please ....... let me help you.

OP did everything right, he contacted customer service and a dealer. He shouldn’t have to contact some paid user to get his problem heard by management and then you telling us not to be public about issues is ridiculous.

Please read what I wrote ........ I said we are unpaid. As I said, stuff happens with any company. And yes he did everything right. Most companies don’t have a team of people that are users like you to try to help with concerns and to find good ideas. Do what you want but I can usually help without all of the drama and frustration. The great thing about Team Torqeedo is that we are able to contact anyone in the company to get things right. That is the mark of a company that cares. Furthermore, I’m not telling you to do anything .......... I’m just asking to give me a chance to help. Most companies would not have reached out and made him very happy. They did the right thing because I was able to get this to the right people and they took immediate action. That is great customer service in my book.
