For those who use an electric motor, an Aqua Signal portable bow light will fit inside the larger Scotty rod holder. It is the larger rod holder for casting reels. Just pry off the square mount on the side of the light. It is a snug fit. This way the rod holder will raise the light, as deck mounted lights tend to be rather low on kayaks. These flash light type of lights are easily available and use LEDs. So if you have a Scotty rod holder mounted up forward, this may be an option. The Scotty rig seems to be easier than the magnetic light that I have been using.
The rod mount may not be centered on the kayak. However, a kayak is so narrow that should not matter.
