Hobie Trax 2 or the Heavy Duty cart?

Trax 2 big fat tires looks like it would be good for sand and mud but it list for $190.00 at ACK. The Heavy Duty cart is $145.00 but would it be OK for sand and mud

I think Pinch made one for one of his yaks. Looks like it'll fit on a Revo or Outback.

I bought the HD for the Hobie PA because I read that the trax2 was not heavy enough for the PA ........

Looks like the only difference between the carts is the wheels they send in the package- same stainless steel frames

Hobie PA weighs 140 lbs unloaded ......... trax 2 capacity is 176 lbs ...... doesn't allow much for gear weight ......... that's why I went with the Heavy duty ......

But if you have a Revo of an Outback you'll have plenty of carrying capacity

Haven't gone that route yet. Seems like a pain to lift and rotate the yak and then try to position the cart into the little holes. I'm sticking with my cradle type cart. Yak slides off/on the cradle easily.

Had a cradle ........ kept slipping off or collapsing ...........

I saw how quick, easy and efficient Lee's (Fjarhead) was and I bought 1 ....... slip it on and slip it off ........ no straps, no slipping and no collapsing .....

Funny how one's perspective works. Hmmmmmm.......maybe I should try it.

What is the wheel bore of the Trax 2? Of the HD?

How about diameter of the vertical poles?

Tuf- my Trac 2 came in and I assembled it in five minutes- the support collars were the hardest because you had to fit it to the Outback- it was a simple thing to do once you turned the Outback over- just insert the mounts in the scuppers and then adjust the plastic collars until it touches the scuppers as the center of the yak rests on the center support beam- the wheels appear to be interchangeable from the Trac 2 to the HD- so the axle diameter is the same as is the wheel hub hole that slips over the axle. I know the price is high at $190, but time, materials and labor considered, it would be difficult to duplicate the sturdiness and dependabilty of the cart by a DIY.

Still need info. What is the wheel bore? That is, the axle diameter? 1/2"? 5/8"?
