Vibe Kayak.. my pedals sound like Croakers... and my seat creeks like arthritis...

I wash down the kayak frequently on trips...

But last trip it was so bad the pedals were making the Specs attack the boat as if it were spawning season.

Hit the pedals with WD-40 and then Silicone spray.. took a while but it all became quite.

Hit the tubes for all the lines with Silicone spray... rudder, pedal..
all is soooo... smooth and quite... best it's ever been.

The seat... the straps squeaked against the nylon fabric...
washed it.. at least twice.... still squeaked...

Inserted a thing piece of foam between the straps and nylon fabric...

I am now as quiet and smooth as a Seawolf class submarine.

I used WD40 and silicon sprays on my old Mirage Drive. It worked marvels to quiet the drive and enhance smoothness. I've been using a Hobie-furnished lube on my new drive and it has remained as quiet and as smooth as I the day I put it into service.

My Hobie Vantage seat was another matter. Your description of "creaks like arthritis" is appropriate. After a few months of use, mine started doing that on each pedal stroke. It was driving me crazy. I could not determine the source of the noise. After much trial and error I wrapped a dish towel around the crossbar on the front bottom of the seat and that solved the problem. The seat's webbing as it stretched out in use was rubbing on that crossbar producing the annoying sound. Now I too am stealthy again.

Thanks for the info on the seat Mark, I noticed my seat making that squeak noise when I had it out last week.

I hope that solution works for you.

Here's how I stopped the squeaking:
