I was wondering if anyone has the new native propel 701 drive and do they have slight play in the pedals when you stop pedaling and start again or when you go from forward to reverse and vise versa

In all the Propel drives I have used, there is a slight degree of play. If you feel the play is excessive, you can contact your dealer for a warranty claim. Native offers a two-year warranty on their Propel drives to the original owner. All warranty claims must be made through the dealer.
You are likely to get more information on this topic by posting this to a Native Propel Facebook page. Two examples are:

My older Propel has some play as well it is caused by space between the teeth of the gears (the technical term is backlash). The gears are intentionally built to be a little bit loose so they turn smoothly, operate quietly, reduce wear, and to reduce manufacturing costs. The effect is also amplified due to the Propel having multiple gears inside. I have 5 years on my older drive and it has not caused any issues, though if it is concerning as above talk to the group or the dealer to warranty it.Mike
