Here are my last plates added to the back corners. I still may do some Duct Tape/ 3m tape on the sides just to reduce the scratching some.

Also, Added reflective strips on the sides, rear, and back of seat.

Thanks Nay_Sayer. Matt, Matt, Matt, we gotta talk buddy!!! I'm thinking you may need some serious help cause that is just SICK!!!! I'm jealous dude. I want an Armored Yak now. Thats just one more thing I gotta have. Looking at what you guys all do to your Yaks makes my head spin!!! Where do you all come up with these ideas. I know there must be some dark place you all go too in order to dream up "what can I do next", and I'm envious. VERY COOL!!! Many of you know that I'm a Firefighter and we have diamond plate on EVERYTHING. I think that if we could get away with it, we would eat off of diamond plate dinner ware and have it all over the station. Its up there with lights and sirens. Firefighters love alot of lights, the more the merrier!! Anyway, Nice Job!!

Diamond plate does look pretty sweet on there. I had a creative idea, but took the lazy way out. I just replaced some of my tape that got torn up at kipto and added some extra layers and silent traction pads.

Thanks... I'm just happy the diamond plate covers up all the scratches I put on it on my 1st trip.

Just curious, How do the Yaks get soooo beat up at Kipto? Is it just the banging against the ships? Also, since I've never been to Kiptopeake, I was wondering how far the ships were from the launch point at the park. Or is there a closer launch area. I want to go down there but if its a long paddle to the ships, I may have to waite till I get a peddle power Yak. My back can only do so much. Thats the logic I'm using on the Wifey in my argument for a Hobie!!! I'll let you know how that goes... LOL
                Thanks

Tom, it's the drive that will kill you for kipto! The paddle out is about 100 yds. You can see it clearly in Joe's (ComeOnFish) YouTube videos from tog fishing. The ships are covered in barnacles/oysters and they are made of concrete... They definitely tear into your plastic!

I just received my sample of KEELEAZY in the mail. I must say it is some really tough stuff. I took a screwdriver to it and can't scratch it. It seems like it should stick well. I will put it on my yak and see how it does Monday at Kipto.

I got the sample in yellow and it looks like to would match my Hobie well, the only problem is that colors only come in 100' rolls. I am thinking Iwill go with black or white if it holds up well.

How much would it take to cover the sides and bottom of a yak? I wouldn't mind getting some in yellow, either.

I could use up to 33' if I did the sides and front and back of the hull. I will check and see what roll cost and if 2 more guys went in it would cover the cost. I will send him an email tonight.

I just went through the Keeleazy website. Looks like some pretty cool stuff. Thanks for the heads up. It looks like the colors are only available in 2" wide strips, but you can buy that by the foot. Prob would be cheaper per foot to buy in bulk if you wanted to do a whole kayak, though.

I was reading the letter that came with my sample WRONG. You can order 2" wide colors by the foot OR in rolls of 100'. Sorry for any confusion. If I can get the sample on my yak in the morning I will give a report tomorrow night. Should be at least 70 degrees to install, I am going to give it a try at a much lower temp.
