  • What do you use as an anchor line cleat

Got all the stuff to build my anchor trolley, but forgot to get a cleat. What do you guys use?

I'm looking at cam cleats... I like the quick-releasability they provide and the low profile. Something like this: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Bearing-Cam-Matic-Cleats-Carbon-Profile/dp/B002NSY23S/ref=sr_1_6?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1330020106&sr=1-6"]Amazon.com: Ball Bearing Cam-Matic Cleats Carbon Fiber Low Profile Cam Cleat: Sports & Outdoors@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31j5VxF8J7L.@@AMEPARAM@@31j5VxF8J7L[/ame]

Where do you mount your cleat?

    Thx.

Thanks for posting this Chex because I will be installing my trolley this weekend and contemplated did I want a cleat at all. The one you posted seems easy to use. I was looking at reviews on the zig zag cleat as well. Look forward to hearing others opinions

I have a clam cleat, but think I would use a cam cleat if I were to do it again. Just bc of looks. I like sailing equipment.

I have a normal (horn) cleat on one yak and a zig zag cleat on the other. They both work but I think I like the normal cleat better. The cam cleats look pretty slick.

I have the type black nylon clam cleat with several serrations where the line just slips in and it bites when pulled forward- it is quick and easy to loosen, but very secure the more pressure or pull it gets-

Where's it mounted? Inside the cockpit?

What is best for the ends? Pulleys? Or just a ring or carabiner? Seems like a simple ring or carabiner will do.

I got pulleys, but it's not like there's so much tension on it that a smooth carabiner wouldn't do the trick, IMO.

I used deckloops for the ends and a ring in the middle bc I had it. If I could do it again I would have used a stainless clip.

For the cleat I use a quickcleat (I think that's what it is called). Line slides in to the cleat and it gradually narrows with teeth, when you want to release just pull the line up and it's free. I put it in the indent on the right side of the revo where the rudder control used to be (right behind the seat). Works well but I hardly ever anchor... been practicing though!

Amazon says they're out of stock with no date for availability. Hook 1 has them, here''s a link to their page showing all 3 styles.

BTW, is it hook 1 we're supporting or is there another sponsor?

i hope to upgrade to the haarken cleats Chexone pic'd. i've used them on sailboats and like them. deep secure grip that's easy to remove quik. drooled on them at west marine last week. $22.

my guess is the straight jam-style cleat does the job just as well at 1/2 the cost.

Anchor Trolley without Anchor from Yak Gear is what I put on my Revo.

                          http://www.yak-gear.com/ANCHORING.html

And that's way before we got them involved with the CBKA tournament. (which, was via a lead from TKAA. Thanks Wayne!)

However, I usually don't anchor. I've used it for a sea anchor. Therefore, no cleat involved. Just a carabiner. Worked great for me last year at the August Ocean City M&G.

I haven't touched base with them yet but Yak-gear provided a bunch of stuff for the tournament. Very generous...

Yeah Hook1 supported the tournament too, and Memory Maker was able to get Hook1 to give MKF a 10% discount on orders I think the code is "CHAD2011"
