Outback Seat Slippage

Not sure if all the years have this, but my 2011 Outback has the two offset wedge screws for holding the seat in place via the two holes in the yak seat area. I do tighten it snugly, but I don't wrench it down for fear of damaging the plastic. Problem is the screws don't hold well and the seat slips off the holes. Anyone have this problem? Any fix?

You just have to hand tighten it some more and make sure they are fulled seated inside the holes when you start.

i have the holes arrangement, but i've used a technique on a slippery welcome mat that might help.

i put silicone caulk on the bottom of the mat and let it dry to rubberize some spots. this increased frction and the mat does not slip anymore. i did not glue it to the porch if you understand what i mean.

not sure this will work for you but a schmear of silicone caulk can probably be peeled back off the bottom of the seat if you don't like it.

Sometimes my seat bunches up under me- I pull it out from under my butt smooth it out and keep on fishing

Maybe I have too much butt shifting. It tightens down fairly well, but it eventually loosens. I'm thinking the wetness makes it slip out easier. I heard someone mention using velcro on the seat and yak. The silicone method sounds like a good idea too, or maybe I could silicone a thin 6X9" rubber mat.

now that you mention the rubber mat idea, it occurs to me that they make non-slip mats to go under home interior rugs. there's also non-slip mats for the workshop that keeps wood from slipping on the work table when you're using a router.

Sand the inside of the holes in the hull where the wedge goes in.
Also, a little lube on the screw in the wedge system helps it turn easier.
