  • OK Trident Rod Pod Upgrade

Anyone with the Trident and rod pod, have you seen this?

It can be added as an upgrade to existing Tridents. Pretty cool...

I don't see how a rod would fit in that holder without an extender. The butt would have to be really short.

I have the original rod pod on mine and this thing looks great. I want to see one in person, but it looks like a great improvement. More rigid, premounts for scottys, threaded screws, better water intrusion protection.

Mine leaks like crazy when it's upside down. I need to test it again now that I've put a few more holes in it, but I am pretty sure that let in the bulk of my water in my re-entry/rescue practice.

Rods fit in mine pretty well, I just put the tips behind me and bow the rod till the reel is in. It was actually pretty handy around the pilings so I could put my other two rods away and keep them from snapping on a piling.

I plan on getting this when it's available and I have a call in with Tom at Appomattox River Co in Richmond to try and track one down for me.

After re-reading, I know what you mean now. I think if you only had one rod there and had it straight out it'd be a nice way to troll or bottom fish. I have a rod holder between the rod pod and the sonar shield now and it's just out of reach that I needed an extender.

It looks like that won't be needed with the new set up. At the very least, it'd be nice to have a place to set my rod when I was landing a fish!

Definitely needs an extender for whatever you plug into this hatch. I think the video was just for demo purposes. But I'd say a huge improvement over the original...

What's the big game's hatch like?

                Like this:

But it is sealed underneath. No access to the hull. So its not a "rod pod" just a spot to put some lures and such. From the pics I have seen the Rod Pod cover is bigger than what I have.

Hmm, does your hatch seal well? You could probably just jigsaw the wall out so you can put your rods facing back. I feel like that would be pretty scary to do though!

It seals great! It has a lining that creates a good seal. I don't care about being able to stow my rods. I just want the scotty integrated on the cover!

Hmm... it seals well and the plastic is rigid? I bet you could just mount a flushmount scotty on your hatch yourself! If it's pretty solid, or bombproof as the west coast bra's say, then you should be set.

Already in the works Redfish! But I figured it would be cool to have my rod holder AND fish finder, whenever I get one...lol. But I guess it will go on the dash.

Just add this to the existing cover, I am pretty sure it comes with a cap for the bottom so it'd still be water tight.
