  • Anybody using underwater LEDs at night?

So I was just out on the web looking for a pole light so I can do a little post dusk fishing in the next few weeks and said to myself, "self, why not mount an underwater LED like bigger boats to attract baitfish???" To test the concept I may just pick up a cheap-o 3 LED flashlight, seal it in my clear drybag, strap it to a pole and stick it underwater. Anybody ever try this? Am I wasting my time? If not, I was thinking of repurposing a plug in anchor light, seal the crap out of it with silicone, and drop it overboard. Crazy? Perhaps, but if it works I'll post them for sale. No worries, I'll cut you guys a deal...

They make stuff like you are talking about that hook up to your battery. I don't think they are very expensive.

Hmm...the ones I've seen at the boat show for permanent mounting seem to be pretty pricey. Like $300-1,000+ a piece.

Nevermind. Just found baitwell lights and LED squid lures. Damn, thought I was onto something. Anyway, anybody use them?

got one of these: http://www.rei.com/product/837762/ma...d-safety-flare but haven't had time to try it out. it fit everything I needed, i plan on using it to light my rods at night, and as a submersible light to attract fish. They also have it in green (which would be better for fish). it's battery powered and said to be waterproof up to 30 feet. I figure, if it doesn't work, REI takes any return for any reason.

I just purchased two of these, one to mount as a nav light and I was thinking of submersing the other. They are meant for underwater photography and are waterproof to 100 feet. http://www.amazon.com/Fantasea-Spott.../dp/B00139CW44

I love that light and the price. I use them as lights on the flag pole.
