  • My first crack and transducer mounting on the new kayak

Decided to mount the Garman 300c that I have for a duck boat to my yak. since I will be moving it from boat to boat I ordered up an extra transducer and power supply from Amazon and got to work searching methods of mounting. In the process I came across this http://kayakfishingblog.com/2008/05/...ducer-bracket/ and decided to use it as a base idea for mounting mine. I also found the idea of using a rubber stopper in the drain hole for the wire. I will post more up on the install as my other parts come in.

Very nice. How did you seal the bottom screw that attaches the mount to the kayak? I have a rudder on my tarpon, I wonder if this could be done and not interfere with it?

I used a small screw and a rubber washed on both sides of the plate. if that fails than I will use goop or 5200 for a more permanent seal. As far as mounting it with the rudder you would have to do it in a manner that the transducer is either below or aft of the rudder blade as to not "read" the rudder on the depth finder.

Yes that is flat steel sheet cut from a 5.00 piece i Bough from lowes. I sprayed it with bed liner when I was done just cause that is what I had available as far as durable paint goes.

Lowrance make a thru the scupper mount, which also fits my Humminbird skimmer type transducer. Its an entire kit, for around $39. I am going to mount that this winter.
