  • AGM vs. Lithium 12 V 12ah batteries

Going back and forth between my purchase of one of these two batteries- the costs are significantly higher than conventional wet cell batteries, but much lighter, can be oriented in any position- both need low amp, slow charging...my Color Chart Plotter requires a higher amperage battery than my old monochrome screen Cuda 350 Combo did- so I am buying a better battery- Since I am going to get a higher capacity battery, why not go high tech?

I had been using my old motorcycle batteries to power mine. But after replacing them with lithium batteries, I just borrow one of those from a bike when I go fishing. Carrying around 2lbs beats 8-10lbs and I don't have to make sure it's centered in the kayak to keep it balanced.

What's the weight on the one you ordered? Maybe I'm looking at the wrong things but it seems to me that AGM batteries aren't really any lighter than SLA batteries?

You're right, they aren't. Its the lithium ion batteries that are significantly lighter. You have to weigh the cost difference as well (pun intended).
